Video: “The List” Builds an LS3 Local Motors Rally Fighter

As an automotive enthusiast, you’re bound to have a list and we’re not talking about the lengthy scribblings of what all is left to do on your project car. We’re talking about your personal bucket list dedicated to all the car-related things you’d like to do in your life.

Well, with that idea in mind, Autoblog has come up with a video series call “The List; 1,001 Car Things To Do Before You Die” that follows hosts Jessi Combs, a spunky automotive fabricator that has appeared on Mythbusters and All Girls Garage, and Patrick McIntyre, an automotive spokesperson with the gift of gab, as they explore some of the most popular automotive must-do’s.

While the two gearheads have already driven tanks, gone 200mph and attended a major car auction, their latest adventure has to be our favorite by far- building an LS3 Rally Fighter with Local Motors. Check out the episode above.

While most people think building a car consists of long hours wrenching on a hunk of metal in your garage, the folks at Local Motors in Chandler, Arizona have a different idea. For those enthusiasts looking for a car building experience a bit different than the rest, the company offers an all-inclusive build session with their team with the finishing result being your own Rally Fighter.

The Rally Fighter is the epitome of the perfect on and off-road vehicle. It’s Fifty-state street legal with all the performance you could want thanks to a GM Performance Parts 6.2L E-ROD LS3 engine. It’s good on the street, but the Rally Fighter is also great in the dirt, being able to take jumps and the abuse of a dirt course without even flinching.

This unique car rolls on an independent A-arm suspension in the front and a four-link setup in the rear, as well as four-wheel disc brakes and 17-inch aluminum alloy wheels. If you’ve ever wanted to take flying dirt jumps and then drive to the store in the same vehicle, the Rally Fighter is exactly what you’ve been looking for.

Rally Fighters are built at the Local Motors Arizona facility, where customers have the option to help build their own vehicle over a six day process for just $74,900. While you’re there for the build experience, Local Motors will take care of your accommodations and meals as part of the purchase price.

After seeing this video, building a Rally Fighter is certainly on my automotive bucket list. Autoblog is still looking for more automotive dreams to fulfill, so be sure to submit any ideas off your personal bucket list for a chance to see them carried out on the show.
