Anyone who ever said that drag racing wasn’t a physical sport has clearly never experienced it firsthand. Even though drag racing is a combination of man and machine, the duty of controlling that 3,500 pound missile falls squarely on the shoulders of the human. It’s not exactly easy to pilot a vehicle that can produce as much as 3,000 hp, especially considering all the functions the brain has to keep track of – staging, RPM, boost, watching the lights, nailing the launch, and then keeping it straight down the lane. Occasionally, it might even call for the man to wrestle his machine back into line if it gets a bit unruly.

That’s just what happened at LS Fest last Saturday night in Bowling Green, Kentucky when Joe Huneycutt not only almost slammed his 4th generation Camaro into he wall, but came pretty darn close in taking out Robert Strong and his Monte Carlo SS in the process.

In this instance, it had nothing to do with either the driver or the car, as by the end of the evening dew had collected onto the track surface allowing for limited traction, causing the Camaro to get out of shape. We’re most impressed by Huneycutt’s ability to keep the Camaro on the track and away from any obstacles.
