Ahh race cars. While automakers are busy trying to make their cars clean, green, and fuel efficient, those of us who don’t give two damns about such things can still get our kicks at the racetrack. Sure, it isn’t the same as the anything-goes days of early NASCAR or Trans Am races, but there are plenty of series and race cars worth checking out.
But don’t take our word for it. Watch this video of a Camaro GT3 revving its massive motor for the crowd, and take in the raw, unpolished sound of open headers and unfiltered power.
Chevy helped several teams field Camaro GT3 cars in the 2012 FIA GT3 championship this year, and the cars have had plenty of success, as well as a few letdowns this season. But since it is a Europe-only series, the Camaro GT3s really dominate the track, at least in terms of the sounds they can make.
Sure, Europe gets a bad rap as full of snooty, tiny-car driving anti-auto enthusiasts, but this video definitely lays that myth to rest. The crowd around the Camaro GT3 is four or five people deep at one point as those skinny Europeans crowd around to get their eardrums blown up by the Camaro’s big V8. Ya, they know where to go to hear some REAL horsepower.
As a bonus, there is about two minutes of actual racing action towards the end of the video…so enjoy the sights and sounds of this GT3 Camaro in action!
