For 2012, there are many cars you can buy that will give you the adrenaline rush that you’re looking for. Today, it’s all about boost and all of the top “affordable” performance cars have some form of power adder under the hood be it either a supercharger or a pair of turbos.
We just ran across this video of a second generation CTS-V at the dragstrip going up against an R35 GT-R. We admit, it seems like there are countless videos of GT-R’s beating up on some of our favorite musclecars to where it’s at the point of expectancy. If these two cars were completely stock, we would have to place our bets on the the Nissan to win. However, they’re not stock, and we had to investigate further.
Turns out, the Caddy is packing a 380ci. LSA with a larger than stock 2.9L Whipple supercharger, all fueled by E85. It was at that moment that even though the GT-R is an 11 second machine out of he box, we realized it better have a few mods to compete with the V.
The video starts off with the V making a solo run down the ‘strip with a shocking, and rather impressive 9.95 at 144.19 MPH. When we saw that, we had to stick around. For the Caddy’s second pas, the Nissan joined in with an aftermarket exhaust, intake, fuel injectors and and pump, a tune, and like the Caddy, E85.
But, it just wasn’t enough, and the Caddy roared to an even quicker 9.84 at 144.92 MPH with the GT-R trailing behind with a 10.30 at 137.08 MPH. Both are incredible machines, no doubt, but since we’re a little biased we were rooting for the Cadillac the whole time..
