Gibson Performance Exhaust enters strong into the all-new sixth-gen Camaro performance game, as the company has started its research and development phase on an exhaust system for the all-new Camaro – and they’re looking for enthusiasts input during the process.
Shawn Gibson of Gibson Performance Exhaust explains that the entire development process will be heavily influenced by the enthusiasts of the Camaro community, which is why Gibson recently picked up its own brand new ’16 Camaro SS boasting the all-new 6.2 liter LT1 V8 as a test mule.
Gibson explains that the company has plans to develop two separate exhaust systems for the ’16 Camaro. Both cat-back exhaust systems will be engineered with performance in mind, with the main differences between the two being the level of sound. The first exhaust system is designed to be mild in sound using Gibson’s dual 3-inch CFT mufflers. These mufflers do not using packing material, and the system is a complete 3-inch stainless steel mandrel bent cat-back exhaust which exits to a pair of dual 4-inch polished tips.
The second exhaust replaces the CFT mufflers with the company’s most aggressive components, the NMA mufflers. These mufflers are a straight-through design which flow only 3 CFM less than a straight pipe according to Gibson, and also do not use any packing in them. Enthusiasts have the option of choosing a black finish on the exhaust tips as well, giving the system a sinister appearance.
What type of exhaust do you prefer? Quiet, or loud? Either way, Gibson is looking to cover all Camaro enthusiasts needs with your help.
It looks as if Gibson Performance Exhaust has presented enthusiasts with an awesome opportunity to shape the future of sixth-gen Camaro’s performance, and we couldn’t be happier.
