It takes guts to make a direct challenge to the maker of the world’s fastest production car. However, after taking a closer look at the VR1200 twin-turbo Cadillac CTS-V Coupe, we can clearly see why Hennessy is so incredibly confident that they could take down the Veyron, any time and place.  

Hennessy rates the VR1200 at 1,226 horsepower and 1,109 pound feet, at the crank, and after seeing this video of the coupe on the dyno, there’s no reason to doubt them. Even with a hint of wheel spin, the VR1200 pumps out a boggling 1,066 horsepower and 964 pound feet of torque at the rear wheels. Those results come from a tried and true American LS pushrod powerplant boasting 427 cubic inches and a whole slew of Hennessey goodies. Long gone is the Caddy’s stock supercharger, and taking its job of pushing some extra atmosphere are a pair of billet wheel Precision turbos.  

Ultimately, the VR1200 manages to make more power than the Veyron Super Sport (rated at 1,200 HP), and it does it with two less turbos and exactly half the cylinders.
