Whoever this Tim Holmyard character is, he’s likely the envy of drag racing nuts all over his home state of Victoria, Australia. The man’s Holden VX Commodore SS, as seen in the above video from Fullboost, really has its act together. It shows with every pass that the car is a force to be reckoned with, just the way its owner intended.
Holmyard has equipped his red speed demon with quite a few upgrades to get it perform the way it does. Chief among these mods are the 444 cubic-inch LSX V8 motor, using a Callies crankshaft, Carrillo rods, Chevy Performance pistons, as well as LS7 cylinder heads, a Higgins spec solid roller camshaft, and Di Filippo headers.
Let’s not forget the mighty direct port nitrous kit, adding on 250 horsepower to make the output a staggering 970 horsepower at the rear wheels. That power channels down a Powerglide transmission to the stock-style IRS rear end, using a 9-inch alloy differential, BMR CVs, and 35-spline axles, and then out to meaty 28×11.5 slicks.
In the first part of the video, Holmyard pilots the Commodore to an impressive 8.84 seconds at 163 miles per hour, followed later with a slightly slower run at 9.06 seconds at 154 miles per hour. His final run, however, bears out the real talent and capability behind the car, as Holmyard zooms to 8.66 seconds at 164 miles per hour.
Without a doubt, this Aussie racer can really put the hammer down on his car, and the car will respond like a purebred horse when the time comes.
