Making quite a scene at 2014 SEMA in the Spectre Performance booth was this beautiful 1972 C-10R race truck owned by Rob and Brandy Phillips. We got a chance to look at the truck up close and personal, and to see it perform out on the track at the OUSCI last fall at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

The truck itself is no longer the vehicle it began life as, with so many new parts swapped and so much win built into it that you can’t just like the truck, you have to love it. The LS powerplant is putting out 585 horsepower, and it’s mated to a Viper T56 6-speed transmission. Under that custom sheet metal resides the chassis of a track car, with a Detroit Speed 595x front suspension and a custom PCH Rods rear suspension. At all four corners handling can be dialed in with AFCO Racing double adjustable coilovers.

Getting that power to the ground through a set of BF Goodrich 335/35R18 tires is a Currie Pro9-inch rearend with a full locker and Baer full floater hubs. You can see Baer six-piston calipers at all four corners, covered up only by the 18×12-inch Boze forged three-piece wheels.

Feeding fuel from the Rick’s Tanks stainless fuel cell to the potent LS is a Holley HP EFI fuel injection system, breathing in air filtered through a Spectre Performance air cleaner. The carbon fiber all over the truck is a nice touch, and all of this put together makes for a badass race truck.
