Someone has been watching too much Gone in Sixty Seconds! On Tuesday October 7th, a thief broke into a dealership in Lake City, Washington and had a plan: steal a new Chevrolet Camaro Z/28.
Borrowing a scene from the infamous movie, the thief made it into the dealership, but now had to find a way out. Around 4:30am a call was received by the police, leading them to the scene of the crime. A security guard had called after finding the evidence of what was called a “dramatic” break-in. Leaving behind tire tracks and broken glass from breaking into the showroom, the thief drove the Camaro through the locked front doors.
While the Z/28 is made with the absolute best from Chevrolet, it wasn’t designed to go through doors. So needless to say, according to the police, the Camaro was badly damaged, along with the building.
Oddly enough, the $75,000 Camaro was later found on a driveway just a half mile from the dealership. From the reports we have seen, it’s unclear whether this was the home of the burglar (which we hope was this idiot’s flaw in his otherwise ‘brilliant’ plan) or a random location that he felt comfortable dropping the muscle car at.
Regardless, we can’t wait to see the footage from the dealership. As much as we are sickened by this theft, it’s not every day you see a Camaro go all dukes and hazard through a dealership window. So we say again… SHOW US THE VIDEO!
